Success ~ Hall
Chapter 3
Max walks into class. He is trying to figure out where to sit. He chooses a spot in the middle, not to close the front. Max’s seat location according to him is ready to learn but not a teacher’s pet. The professor Sensei walks into the room and the whole class quiets down. He begins his lecture he states that in order to be successful technology leader. Question need to be asked and then addressed. Theory is a key in technology leadership. Theory allows a group to define a clear vision of what they want to accomplish. The vision is the map; it needs to be clear and concise. The educational leaders role is to define, create, and manage the vision. The vision and the plan need to expand and work/develop together. It is important for the technology leader to apply the plan. The plan needs constant monitoring and developing. All things need to be aligned in order for the system operates correctly. It is the technology leaders responsibility to make sure things go from good to GREAT.
Technology for School Leadership ~ Picciano
Chapter 4
Knowledge is power. This statement means that you should gain knowledge in order to better serve your school and your job. There are many administrative uses for computer systems. It is important for all of them to function well together. Database management systems are critical for computer systems to be integrated with each other. The applications are easy to use. They also allow school to function better and easier with data information, when operated correctly.

Hi Jordan I hope you are having a pleasant and restful weekend.
ReplyDeleteTechnology in Leadership
I am glad you commented on the Knowledge is power portion of our text because I think it spoke volumes as to the success of our schools. As leaders we must be knowledgeable and be able to communicate changes, new technology, and other resources in order to lead. More importantly, as leaders we must be able to provide direction to all constituents and share this information so that everyone will be on the same page.
Leadership & Success
We all have been Max at some point trying to determine our rightful place in the classroom. Dr. Sensei had a great opening statement to the class "Begin with the end in mind" which means be clear of your expections and what it is you want to accomplish. Then you can design a map as tho how you are going to get there, what the result will be, how you will evaluate it effectiveness, and how this plan or map works in regards to the big picture. The bottom line is know what you are trying to accomplish and have each member by into it by you bein a part of the team first and explaining the importance of each staff's contribution to the goal.

Lea,
ReplyDeleteKnowledge is so important! It is important to know and be informed about information that is relevant to you personally. It allows for open communication and interaction with our peers.
I know that I have been Max. Not wanting to be in the back of the class or up in the front. I like the quote "Begin with the end in mind" It is true that you have to know where you are going before you map out how to get there.
Jordan
Jordan,
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that it is the technology leaders responsibility to make sure things go from good to GREAT. I think that is a great statement. It reminds me that God is always at work within us to help us become "better" than we are. Philippians 2:13 says, "because God is working in you to help you want to do and be able to do what pleases him." (http://bible.us/Phil2.13.NCV/) In order to be GREAt we must leave good. Knowing that God is there to help can make leaving good easier (than just trying to do it on your own.
You also mentioned that KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! That statement stuck out to me in our reading also. Great leaders do use their knowledge to help those around them and not for their own good.
God Bless!
